Meet the Designer

A few weeks back I attended the Meet the Designer event at Burgundy fly, Maponya Mall. The featured designer for the month was Thula Sindi who had just launched his S/S15 range, we got a sneak peek and I got the chance to pick his brain about his inspiration for the designs.

What was great about this event is having the designer interact with his clients whom have pushed him for more colour this season. Clients help shape the way he designs and that it’s important. Burgundy fly brings the designer & client together every month for a unique experience.

With this collection he wanted a broad appeal, he has studied all over the world and has loads of influences and with a fine art background he wanted to showcase that. Its easy to wear clothing that doesn’t age too quickly and fits easily into your lifestyle. He wanted women-friendly sophisticated garments that fit a women’s form well. These are clothes can travels very well and fit into a modern working women’s wardrobe that gives you fancy without the fuss.
He wants women to build a wardrobe, that can go from season to season but still be cohesive. His pieces are consistent you can buy a head to toe look or just great pieces you can pair with jeans & heels for a more practical approach. He wants women to get a lot wear out of the clothing and value for money, something practical but special enough for a night out. For this collection he has used lots of bright colours, shapes, bigger volumes, interesting colour combos, interesting textures.

To view the entire S/S 15 range check out his media presentation on Instagram with the hashtag #ThulaSindiDotCom also follow him at Thula Sindi.
